DEATH DOULA SERVICES

Arrangements By Celestina LLC provides compassionate death doula support to individuals and families navigating the final stages of life. We offer a calm, comforting presence while helping clients prepare emotionally, spiritually, and practically for what lies ahead.

Our services may include legacy projects, advance-planning conversations, comfort-space preparation, caregiver respite, vigil sitting, family advocacy, final-goodbye rituals, memorial planning, and early grief support. Every service is personalized according to the individual’s wishes, beliefs, culture, and family traditions.

Led by Celestina Bishop, a Certified Grief Consultant, Death Doula, author, and experienced funeral professional, our mission is to ensure that no individual or family feels alone during one of life’s most sacred transitions. Every client is served with care, empathy, compassion, dignity, and grace.

Death doula services are nonmedical and do not replace hospice care, licensed medical treatment, legal counsel, mental-health services, or the services of a licensed funeral establishment.

Why Death Doulas Are Important

The end of life can bring uncertainty, fear, difficult decisions, and emotional exhaustion. While medical professionals focus on the person’s physical care, a death doula provides continuous nonmedical, emotional, spiritual, and practical support.

Death doulas help individuals feel heard, respected, and less alone. They also give families a calm and knowledgeable person to turn to for guidance, preparation, caregiver support, and meaningful conversations. This support can reduce fear, improve communication, and help families spend more meaningful time together.

A death doula may help with:

  • Understanding what to expect during the dying process

  • Discussing personal values, wishes, and priorities

  • Creating a peaceful and comforting environment

  • Completing legacy projects, letters, or recordings

  • Preparing family members for changes that may occur

  • Providing vigil sitting and caregiver respite

  • Communicating cultural and spiritual preferences

  • Planning final-goodbye rituals and remembrance activities

  • Offering gentle support immediately following a death

  • Connecting families with hospice, funeral, legal, grief, or community resources when needed

Who Seeks Death Doula Services?

Death doula services are not limited to individuals who are actively dying. People may seek support at any stage of serious illness, aging, advance planning, caregiving, or bereavement.

Our services may benefit:

  • Individuals diagnosed with a terminal or life-limiting illness

  • Older adults who want to prepare for the future

  • People receiving hospice or palliative care

  • Individuals who want to organize their end-of-life wishes

  • People who live alone or have limited family support

How to Begin Death Doula Services

Beginning services with Arrangements By Celestina LLC is a simple and compassionate process designed to help us understand your needs and determine how we can best support you and your family.

Step 1: Contact Us

Call or email Arrangements By Celestina LLC to request information or begin services.

Phone: 562-832-6608
Email: Arrangementsbycelestina@gmail.com

Please provide your name, contact information, the name of the person needing support, and a brief description of your current needs. If your loved one is actively transitioning or support is needed soon, please mention this during your initial contact.

Step 2: Schedule the Intake Consultation

An intake consultation will be scheduled with the individual, designated family representative, caregiver, or other authorized person. The intake generally takes approximately one hour. It may be completed with the client, family, or both, depending on the circumstances and the client’s ability and wishes.

Step 3: Identify Your Needs

During the intake consultation, we will discuss:

  • The client’s current condition and support needs

  • The individual’s wishes, values, and priorities

  • Family and caregiver concerns

  • Cultural, religious, or spiritual preferences

  • Legacy or remembrance projects

  • Vigil sitting and caregiver-respite needs

  • Preferred dates, times, and service location

  • Frequency and anticipated length of visits

  • Overnight or extended-support requests

  • Other professionals currently involved, including hospice, clergy, caregivers, or a funeral establishment

Step 4: Create a Personalized Service Plan

After the intake, we will recommend services based on the needs identified during the consultation. The proposed plan will explain the type of support requested, scheduling, service hours, fees, travel requirements, and any special arrangements. Services are subject to availability and must remain within the nonmedical scope of death doula care.

Step 5: Review and Sign the Service Agreement

Before services begin, the client or authorized representative will review and sign a Death Doula Service Agreement. The agreement explains:

  • Services being provided

  • Fees and payment requirements

  • Scheduled dates and hours

  • Cancellations and refunds

  • Travel and overnight-vigil arrangements

  • Client and family responsibilities

  • Service limitations

  • Confidentiality and communication

  • Termination of services

Any required payment or deposit will be discussed before the agreement is signed.

Step 6: Begin Services

Once the service agreement is signed and scheduling is confirmed, death doula support may begin. We will remain in communication with the client or designated family representative and adjust the support plan when needs or circumstances change.

Important Service Notice

Death doula care is nonmedical and does not replace hospice, physicians, nurses, emergency services, legal counsel, licensed mental-health professionals, or a licensed funeral establishment. If there is a medical emergency, call 911 or contact the client’s hospice or medical provider immediately.
